Emergency Glazier near me: we arrive within the hour

A house window smashed by a football, a french window slammed shut by the wind, an attempted break-in you discover when you get home in the evening, a trolley that crashed into a corner shop’s window, an act of vandalism: the glass is on the floor or the pane is shattered, and the premises need securing fast before the glazing can be replaced.
Our glaziers are with you in under an hour in Paris and the neighbouring towns, barring exceptional traffic. Their vans are equipped for emergency boarding up (OSB panels) and for fitting standard glazing. For an emergency window repair, the process is the same day or night: you call us, describe the damage (a photo sent by message saves us a lot of time), and we give you a price and an arrival time. Contact us now via the online form or by phone.

Who Are We?
Customer Satisfaction Our Priority
Our glaziers cover Paris and the rest of Île-de-France, and they handle both sides of the job: making a broken opening safe straight away, then coming back to fit glazing made to measure. Years spent working on Parisian buildings, from Haussmann-era timber windows to the glass façades of modern offices, are what let us give an accurate price and work quickly.
Plenty of people living in Paris don’t use French day to day. Describing a smashed window or reading an insurance claim form is hard enough in your own language, so our team handles it all in English, from the first call to the final invoice. If you’ve just moved to Paris or run an international business here, you can ask us anything without hunting for the right word.
The English-Speaking Services Team

All our glazing and mirror services in Paris

We work on all types of glazing found in Parisian homes and shops, from the wooden windows of Haussmann buildings to the glazed frontages of new office blocks.

Emergency boarding up

  • Smashed window
  • Broken window
  • Cracked window

Every emergency glazing repair starts with making the opening safe. Cracked glass can give way all at once, and a window with no pane lets in the rain and anyone passing by.

On site, we remove the pieces still stuck in the frame, clear the shards from the floor and window sills, then close the opening. We usually fit a screwed timber board or a polycarbonate sheet, and sometimes temporary glazing on large patio doors. For a shop window, we prefer a solid board so nothing inside can be seen overnight.

Properly done, boarding up should hold for several days depending on the glazing, as new made-to-measure glass has to be delivered if our supplier doesn’t have it in stock. We don’t leave until your home or business premises are fully secure.

While you wait for us, don’t tape up cracked double glazing ‘to hold it together’, and don’t try to pull out a large shard stuck in the rebate with your bare hands. Close the room if you have children or a pet, or rope off the area or set chairs around it if customers are passing through.

Single glazing window pane replacement

Many older buildings in Paris still have timber windows with single glazing, held in by putty or glazing beads. To replace the pane, we remove the broken glass, clean out the rebate, cut new glass to size and bed it back in with fresh putty. It’s the quickest job we do, and it’s often sorted in a single visit.

If the frame allows it, we can offer you laminated glass or slim retrofit double glazing, designed to fit the narrow rebates of older windows.

Double glazing repair

A double glazed unit is made of two panes of glass separated by a cavity filled with air or argon gas, all sealed together in the factory. The most common build-up is 4/16/4: two 4 mm panes with a 16 mm gap between them. When one of the two panes breaks, the whole sealed unit is replaced, because it is no longer airtight.

The window itself stays. Repairing double glazing means removing the glazing beads, taking out the damaged unit and fitting a new one to the same dimensions, without touching the frame or the wall. For broken double glazing, we make the opening safe and take precise measurements on our first visit, then come back to fit the made-to-measure unit.

Double glazing can also fail without breaking. Condensation between the two panes means the seal has gone: the unit insulates far less well and needs replacing.

Triple Glazing Repair

Triple glazing adds a third pane and a second gas-filled cavity. Being heavier and thicker (roughly 36 to 44 mm), it needs a frame designed to take it. We replace it like for like on windows that already have it, which are common in recent low-energy buildings. On an older window, we’ll tell you honestly whether switching to triple glazing is worth the cost or whether high-performance double glazing will do the job. In a Paris flat, the second option is almost always the one we recommend.

Velux and Roof Window Glazing

Hail, a falling branch, a tool dropped during roofing work, thermal stress cracking: a roof window is more exposed than an ordinary window. Glazing on Velux and other roof window brands has one particular feature: the inner pane is usually laminated, so no shards can fall into the room.

To order the right glazing, we note the reference printed on the window’s data plate, a code such as MK04 or SK06. If you can send us a photo of it when you call, the glazing can be ordered before we even arrive. We usually work from inside, with no scaffolding needed. We also handle skylights and glazed roof lanterns.

Entrance Hall and Communal Door Glass

Communal entrance doors take a lot of knocks: deliveries, pushchairs, vandalism, a badly adjusted door closer that makes the door slam. Older buildings often have wired glass, easy to spot by its metal mesh, while more recent entrance halls tend to have laminated or toughened glass.

An entrance door can’t be left open overnight. We secure it the same day so the building stays locked, then fit glass of the same type or a stronger laminated pane. We work directly with property managers and concierges, and the invoice is made out to the building’s co-owners’ association.

Glazing upgrades

All Types of Glazing: single, double, triple, security and bullet-resistant
All Types of Glass Finish: clear, frosted, granite-textured and cathedral

A window in good condition can take higher-performance glazing without any work on the frame. For example, customers ask us for acoustic glazing in a bedroom facing a busy boulevard, high-performance double glazing to replace an old 4/6/4 unit, burglar-resistant laminated glass on the ground floor, frosted glass for a bathroom overlooking the street, or solar control glass for a south-facing office.

Acoustic glazing combines two panes of different thicknesses, or uses acoustic laminated glass, to cut out more street noise. The only limit is the depth of the rebate: we measure it before suggesting a thicker unit.

Patio door glass

  • Sliding patio doors
  • Pocket sliding doors
  • Fixed picture windows
  • Bi-fold doors
  • French doors
  • Tilt and slide patio doors

Sliding, pocket and fixed patio doors carry large, heavy glass panels: a 4/16/4 double glazed unit weighs around 20 kg per square metre, and over 30 kg with one laminated pane. We fit them as a two-person team using glass lifting suction cups, and we replace just the glazing when the frame and tracks are in good condition.

For a ground-floor patio door or one facing a courtyard, we recommend a laminated pane: if it takes a knock or someone tries to break in, the glass stays in its frame. We work on frames from every manufacturer, as well as bottom-hung windows and pivot windows.

Safety Glass

  • toughened glass
  • safety glass
  • bullet-resistant glazing
Toughened, Sécurit and Laminated Glass

People often ask us how these types of safety glass differ. Toughened glass is heated and then rapidly cooled, which makes it 4 to 5 times more impact-resistant than ordinary glass. When it breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pieces. Sécurit glass is the same thing: it’s Saint-Gobain’s trade name for toughened glass, which has become a household word in France. Laminated glass bonds two panes together with one or more plastic interlayers (PVB). It cracks in a star pattern but stays in place.

When it comes to safety glass repair, the rule is simple: toughened or laminated glass can’t be repaired, only replaced. Our job is to identify the glass (toughened glass often carries a small mark in one corner), make the opening safe, then fit glass of the same class or a higher one.

Security and Bullet-Resistant Glazing

Some businesses need protection well beyond standard laminated glass: jewellers, bank branches, bureaux de change, high-risk reception areas. We supply and fit high-security burglar-resistant glazing, rated P6B to P8B under the EN 356 standard (resistance to axe blows), and bullet-resistant glazing rated BR1 to BR7 under EN 1063, depending on the type of weapon. This glazing is made to measure and often needs a reinforced frame: we assess your shop front before quoting, and we meet the rating your insurer requires.

Commercial Glazing: Shops, Offices, Supermarkets

  • Burglar-resistant glass
  • Toughened glass
  • Wired glass
  • Tinted glass
  • Anti-reflective glass
  • Laminated glass
  • Plexiglas, laminated and toughened glazing

Commercial glazing comes with its own constraints. A shop with a broken window loses customers and stays exposed until it is secured. An office needs to reopen the next morning, and a supermarket can’t leave its entrance lobby open overnight.

We work for shops, restaurants and cafés, pharmacies, agencies, professional practices, hotels, supermarkets and convenience stores, as well as property managers and building management firms.

Our glazing services include:

  • Shop window replacement, including large panes that take several people to fit.
  • Toughened glass entrance doors and automatic lobby doors.
  • Glass partitions and office screens.
  • Shop fronts and glazed façades on aluminium frames.
  • Burglar-resistant laminated glass for exposed shop windows.
  • Overnight boarding up after a break-in, an accident or vandalism.

  • For a shop window, we almost always recommend laminated glass rather than toughened glass alone. Toughened glass withstands impact better, but when it gives way, it falls out completely and leaves the way clear. Laminated glass cracks but stays in its frame. A 44.2 laminate (two 4 mm panes and two PVB interlayers) reaches class P2A under EN 356, a standard level for a shop. For a more exposed business, we move up to 44.4 (class P4A) or 44.6 (class P5A), and higher still if your insurer requires it.

For professional, local glazing replacement without closing your business for days, we schedule the fitting early in the morning or after closing time whenever possible. The invoice is made out to your company, with the details your insurer or property manager will expect.

    Security shutters and grilles

    • solid roller shutter
    • perforated roller shutter
    • punched or tube and link roller shutter
    • polycarbonate roller shutter
    • roller grille
    • scissor security gate
    • sliding folding grille

We fit and repair security shutters and grilles for shops, offices and homes across Paris. We work with steel or aluminium roller shutters, perforated shutters that keep your window display visible at night, and folding or sliding grilles for doors and shop fronts. If a shutter jams or has been forced during a break-in, we come out to free it or make it secure, replace damaged slats, or upgrade a manual shutter to electric operation. Combined with laminated glass, a shutter gives your premises a second line of defence in front of the window.

FAQ: questions about our glazing services

    1. You call us or click ‘Request a quote online’. Describe the damage and attach a photo if you can.
    2. Before setting off, we give you an initial estimate where possible and an arrival time.
    3. On site, we make the opening safe, take measurements and identify the thickness and build-up of the glazing, as well as the frame material.
    4. You receive a detailed quote for the replacement. Nothing is ordered without your approval.
    5. We fit the new glazing, clean up and hand you a detailed invoice.

For standard single glazing, steps 3 to 5 are often done in the same visit. For double or triple glazing, toughened glass or made-to-measure laminated glass, you need to allow for the manufacturing time, which we state on the quote.

In Paris and the inner suburbs, we’re with you in under an hour after your call, barring exceptional traffic. We make the opening safe as soon as we arrive.

Yes, as long as the frame is in good condition. We keep the existing frame (uPVC, timber or aluminium) and replace only the glazing, to the same dimensions and thickness. It’s quicker and much cheaper than a new window.

If you’re in Paris or in the 92, 93 or 94, yes. We remove the glazing beads, replace the broken unit and refit everything without damaging the frame.

Call us or fill in the quote form with your address and a photo of the glazing. We’ll call you back with a price and an arrival time, then come out to you, including evenings and weekends.

Don’t touch anything, have the police record the break-in and file a report. Then notify your insurer within the deadline set by your policy, which can be as short as 2 working days for theft. Call us as soon as possible: we’ll board up the openings the same evening and give you an invoice to add to your claim.

Yes, quotes given over the phone are free. You receive it before any glass is ordered and before work begins.

Yes, a glazier near you can come out at night, at the weekend and on bank holidays: our emergency service runs 24/7. At night, the priority is to close up the opening. We remove the broken glass, clear up the shards and screw a timber or polycarbonate board in place so your home or business stays secure until morning. Standard single glazing can often be replaced straight away. For double glazing, toughened glass or made-to-measure glazing, we take measurements on this first visit and come back to fit the new glazing at a time that suits you. Single glazing repairs are carried out the same day, while double glazing replacement takes 24–48 hours after ordering.

The cost of a glazier near you mainly depends on the glass to be fitted (type and size) and the time of the call-out. Before setting off, we give you an initial estimate over the phone, based on your description and photos. On site, you receive a detailed, free quote for the replacement, and nothing is ordered without your approval. If the damage is covered by your accidental glass breakage cover, the detailed invoice we give you serves as proof for your insurer.

Once on site, we can show you our solutions to delay break-ins (security doors, high-security locks, security shutters, etc.). Feel free to visit our page on locksmith services in Paris.
